Effects of Lower Trapezius Strengthening Exercises on Pain, Dysfunction, Posture Alignment, Muscle Thickness and Contraction Rate in Patients with Neck Pain; Randomized Controlled Trial.
RCT with 40 neck pain patients (20 control/20 experimental) added lower trapezius strengthening to a standard scapula and thoracic stabilization program. Both groups improved in pain and disability, but the experimental group showed greater gains in neck disability, postural alignment, lower trapezius thickness and contraction, potentially by restoring upper/lower trapezius balance.
CONCLUSION
Integrating lower trapezius strengthening into clinical training protocols for neck pain patients is recommended, with additional monitoring of the upper/lower trapezius imbalance to track progress and guide improvement.
