Efficacy of Electromyographic-Biofeedback Supplementation Training with Patellar Taping on Quadriceps Strengthening in Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome among Young Adult Male Athletes

EMG-biofeedback for PFPS in 60 young male athletes divided into two groups: patellar taping during isometric quadriceps training vs. sham biofeedback, over 4 weeks (5x/week). The experimental group showed earlier pain relief (Week 2), followed by greater strength (Week 4) and better knee function (Week 6) than control, suggesting biofeedback's benefits build gradually rather than immediately.

CONCLUSION

This suggests EMG feedback is a valuable addition to conservative PFPS rehabilitation, as it not only reduces pain but also restores underlying strength and functional deficits rather than masking symptoms alone.
